Operating Budget
The Town's operating budget deals primarily with monitoring and controlling the costs of day-to-day operations. The budget approved by Council covers a period of one year, from April 1st to March 31st.
It is important to note that unlike the Provincial or Federal Governments, municipal government is not permitted, by law, to accumulate deficits year after year. If a shortfall does occur in one year, it must be recouped immediately in the following year to restore "balance" to the budget as quickly as possible.
